Why do bank holidays differ across the UK?
England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland each have their own set of bank holidays. Scotland observes 2 January and St Andrew’s Day which are not holidays in England. Northern Ireland observes St Patrick’s Day and the Battle of the Boyne which apply nowhere else in the UK. This is why the checker above shows results separately for each nation.
